Exercise after toilet use is post toilet-use exercise (6) (Daily Mirror 3/14/10)

Inaugural post! Besides that it's the first cryptic I've ever actually fully completed. W00t!

Got through some short ones first--31: Consumed less than nine, say (3), 22: Removal includes eggs (3). Rest weren't too bad today.

NW and SW were the last to go. NW after guessing from the L to 2: Nothing but affection (4) and then stopping to try to fit 'canary' into 1: Yellow bird caught first. Must remember to think more laterally with directional indicators (e.g. first, after, round). SW fell after realizing that Doctor in 30: Doctor has morning drink (4) wasn't an anagram indicator...

A few questions for today:
  • 10: Sheepish round wine supplier (5)--why does wine supplier = vine?
  • 27: City can produce language (5)--I had a cross so I went with Latin right away, and then saw the L.A. But produce = tin?
Learned/remembered something at 25: ER = Elizabeth Regina. Brought me back to 9th grade, when regina--a female-use only word, mind you--gave us hours of hooting adolescent laughter.
